Broadband@Sea
The  Platform Broadband@sea organises various events each year, with the unanimous goal to create greater transparency in the maritime broadband industry and increase broadband usage on board ships. The Platform addresses different aspects of this  field and therefore provides benefit to all involved organisations, such as shipowners, service providers and equipment manufacturers.

The Platform Broadband@Sea was initiated in response to the huge interest in the innovation project Broadband@Sea. Nowedays, the Platform provides a link between different maritime companies, from shipowners to suppliers and from knowledge institutes to industry associations. Each party has a different views and needs in relation to ship-shore connectivity. Linking those organisations  adds significant value to their business developments. Shore Support
The Platform SHORE SUPPORT is the international frontrunner in innovative shore to ship support concepts. Almost 50 parties are invloved, and still growing.

In 2011, TNO finalised a 2 year scientific research concerning the safety consequences of a new crew composition on board shortsea vessels, limited to 3000GT/3000kW and running on MDO. A comparison was made between a number of ships sailed with a  traditional manning compostion, while a number of other ships, sailed with an integrated Maritime Officer in combination with shore support. According to TNO, the new manning concept appears to be safer, creates a better team spirit and reduces tiredness on board.
